Swansea - The father of one of two girls killed by a train during a summer picnic last night vowed to seek compensation from the couple convicted of his daughter's manslaughter.

Mr Tony Allcock said he would also seek damages for the psychological trauma suffered by his son, Matthew, after watching his younger sister, Kymberley (8), being struck by a Sprinter train. Amanda Edwards (35) and her husband, Gareth (34), were yesterday convicted by a jury of manslaughter through gross negligence in the deaths of Amanda's only daughter, Sophie George (7), and her playmate, Kymberley.

The schoolgirls were hit by the 60 m.p.h. train while playing on a railway line near the Edwards's home in Tre'rddol, near Aberystwyth, west Wales, almost a year ago. Matthew Allcock, 11 at the time, and Mrs Edwards's other child, Christopher George, then aged 9, were just inches from the track when the train passed.
