A couple were rescued on the Macgillycuddy Reeks mountain range in Co Kerry last night.
The man and woman, who are believed to be Irish, raised the alarm yesterday afternoon by mobile phone after losing their way.
But members of Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were unable to re-establish contact with them by telephone.
The search was concentrated on Caher Mountain, west of Carrantuohill, where temperatures were running close to freezing.
