The High Court has fixed June 22nd for the hearing of an application by the financial controller of The Irish Times Ltd for an injunction restraining his dismissal.

Mr Richard Gee has held the post for 18 years, but the court has heard he was told several weeks ago he was to be dismissed by reason of redundancy as the company intended to employ a chief financial officer.

Mr Tom Mallon, for Mr Gee, said his client was given 12 months' notice but told he would only have to work for three months of that period.

On May 5th The Irish Times Ltd and Irish Times Publications Ltd gave an undertaking not to remove Mr Gee from his position or employ any person to his post or to a similar post. That undertaking continues to June 22nd.
