A man who was arrested as part of the investigation into the £26.5 million Northern Bank robbery has been found guilty of membership of an illegal organisation at the Special Criminal Court today.
Co Cork chef Don Bullman (32) was detained with two other men at Dublin's Heuston Station on February 16th, 2005, by detectives investigating money-laundering in the aftermath of the heist on the Belfast bank.
He was discovered with a washing powder box containing more than €94,000 by the Special Detective Unit, which was called in to investigate the massive raid.
The three-judge Special Criminal Court found Bullman guilty of membership of an illegal organisation styling itself the IRA. He will be sentenced on March 14th.
Mr Justice Paul Butler said he was satisfied beyond any reasonable doubt that the evidence given by members of An Garda Síochána during the trial was the truth.
Bullman, from Fernwood Crescent, Leghanamore, Wilton, Co Cork, had pleaded not guilty to the charge of IRA membership.
