The company which owns the Dalkey home of Rick Savage, of Def Leppard, which is currently for sale, has been ordered by the High Court not to dispose of £275,000 from the proceeds of the sale pending the outcome of a legal dispute.

Mr Justice Finnegan ordered that Cathrish Ltd, of which Mr Savage is the sole shareholder, refrain from disposing of the proceeds of the sale of Strawberry Hill House, Vico Road, Dalkey, save in so far as the sum exceeds £275,000.

He ordered that this sum be held by the company pending the outcome of proceedings by Mr Robert Frewen, East 79th Street, New York, and his wife, Helen, against Mr Savage.

The couple claim that water has been percolating into their house from Mr Savage's. Mr Frewen has said he is apprehensive that he could suffer loss of income, architect's and engineer's fees and building costs in connection with the alleged water damage, as well as legal costs of not less than £300,000.

The court has already been told that Mr Savage intends to sell his Dublin home, which is estimated to be worth £3.5 million, and buy another in Sheffield.

Making the order, Mr Justice Finnegan said that if he got an undertaking along the terms of the order from the respondent, he would consider discharging it.
