The Longford county footballer Dave Barden, who had been suspended since being sent off during a tournament match last month, has secured a High Court injunction which means he can resume playing pending a full hearing of his action against the GAA authorities.
An automatic eight-week suspension had applied since Mr Barden was sent off on April 9th.
The suspension was to apply pending an investigation by the GAA's Games Administration Committee (GAC) and, as a result, Mr Barden was unable to play for Longford in last Sunday's Leinster championship defeat by Carlow.
However, yesterday Mr Justice McKechnie granted orders restraining the GAA from imposing any disciplinary measures or sanctions on the player arising out of a purported referee report, or from imposing any interim sanction or other disciplinary measure on him on foot of the report.
The orders apply pending a full hearing on a date to be set later.
