Two presidents were yesterday nominated to the Circuit and District courts after the terms of office of their predecessors expired.
The Government nominated Judge Raymond Groarke as president of the Circuit Court, and Judge Rosemary Horgan president of the District Court.
They will replace the serving presidents, Mr Justice Matthew Deery and Judge Miriam Malone.
Judge Groarke practised predominantly on the Midland Circuit Court from 1973 to 1996, after which he was appointed to the Circuit Court. Judge Horgan was appointed to the District Court in 2011.
