A DUBLIN man allegedly lured into a lane by a girl posing as a prostitute was abducted by a gang of six people and beaten for over two hours while he was driven around the city in his car, a court heard yesterday.

Before the Dublin District Court was Mr Donal Leahy (25), of Millicent Road, Clane, Co Kildare, who was charged with stealing £60 in cash and a gold watch from the man in Waterloo Road, Dublin, on April 24th, 1995.

Det Garda Fergal Foley, of Ronanstown Garda station, told the court it was alleged that a young girl had posed as a prostitute and lured the 44 year old man down a laneway to the waiting gang.

Gang members allegedly abducted him and drove him in his Volvo to the Dublin Mountains, where they beat him severely. They continued to drive around the city with him in the car before finally being apprehended by gardai on the Naas Road.
