BRITAIN: Singer and actress Courtney Love was arrested for "endangering an aircraft" after she landed on a transatlantic flight at Heathrow airport today.

The offence carries a maximum jail term of two years.

Love, the widow of Nirvana star Kurt Cobain, was accused of hurling abuse at cabin crew during a Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles.

The crew were said to have tried to calm her down but she refused to sit in her seat and put her seat-belt on.

Flight staff felt she was being so disruptive that the captain decided to call the airport. Police were waiting when the aircraft touched down.

The singer, wearing sunglasses, was shepherded into a police van with an officer taking each of her arms.
