The Courts Service has moved to dispel fears that files relating to today's major cross border operation against organised crime had been stolen during a break-in at Dundalk courthouse last night.
Concerns were raised that warrants linked to today's searches may have been compromised. However, a spokesman for the Courts Service said there was no break-in at Dundalk courthouse last night or this morning. "There was a small robbery in the courthouse where €20 and a packet of 20 cigarettes were robbed from just inside the public counter," he said. "The person who robbed the items was seen on CCTV today coming from the disabled toilets just as staff were locking up the public area taking the items and leaving. "There was no break-in and there was no question of files being interfered with or stolen. CCTV footage has been handed over to Gardai."
