Coventry City sacked their manager Roland Nilsson and assistant Jim Smith today.

Chairman Mike McGinnity said: "We understand the fans' frustration completely in addition to the need for immediate change.

"They also conceded that the Sky Blues' failure to achieve a play-off position, after losing 19 games and drawing six this campaign, is not good enough," the club said.

Nilsson had been in charge at Coventry, who were relegated from the Premiership last season, since September when he replaced Gordon Strachan. Coventry are 11th in the first division standings.
