Coventry have pulled out of the deal to sign Italian striker Fabrizio Ravanelli, blaming stalling tactics by the Italian for the collapse of negotiations.
Ravanelli had been linked with a move to the Nationwide Division One side after joining City for training on Monday afternoon.
Still based in the midlands despite the expiry of his two-year contract with Derby at the end of last season, the White Feather had passed a medical and agreed terms with Coventry but interest from Scotland put the brakes on the Highfield Road deal which finally fell through this evening.
A statement issued by the club tonight read: "Coventry City has withdrawn its interest in Fabrizio Ravanelli after talks with the former Italian international broke down this evening.
"Ravanelli had agreed terms with the Sky Blues on Wednesday, prior to Dundee's interest in the 34-year-old.
"The player and his representatives confirmed today the veteran striker still wished to join Coventry on the original terms offered, only to continue to stall on signing the contract.
"Therefore, the club has decided not to pursue its interest in the player."
