Roland Nilsson will be appointed Coventry's permanent player-boss "within the next day or so", according to club chairman Bryan Richardson.
The Sky Blues have been transformed since the Swede took over from Gordon Strachan, who parted company with the club last month after a stuttering start to the season in the English first division.
City are unbeaten under Nilsson, having won four and drawn three of the seven games for which he has been in charge, and Richardson is now prepared to reward the 37-year-old with the job on a full-time basis.
He told Radio 5 Live: "The situation is very clear now. We sat down yesterday and talked and I would think within the next day or so we will announce that Roland is to be the full-time manager".
