Taoiseach Brian Cowen is to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Offaly Association of Dublin.
Mr Cowen is a native of Clara and lives in Tullamore. He is the first recipient of the award, following his election as the first Offaly-born taoiseach last year.
"I am both delighted and humbled to receive this lifetime achievement award,'' said Mr Cowen.
"Virtually all my adult life has been devoted to public service and to representing my county and constituency.''
Mr Cowen will be presented with his award at a ceremony in Dublin next month.
