Eisenhuettenstadt - The German Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schroder, pledged a crackdown on neo-Nazi violence yesterday, saying it was hurting Germany's image abroad and could damage its economy.
Speaking at a steel factory in eastern Germany in his first public engagement since returning from holiday, Mr Schroder said authorities would act "with all severity" to stamp out racist crime, which is at the centre of a bitter national debate.
