A young Dublin man died after his car collided with a Garda patrol car on an icy Wicklow road last January, Dublin City Coroner's Court heard yesterday. Mr Kenneth Sherlock (21), a computer operator, Newbury Avenue, Clonshaugh, died on January 31st, a week after the collision at Castleruddery Lower, Baltinglass.
The driver and observer in the patrol car said they were on routine patrol near Baltinglass early on January 24th. They were aware the road was very icy. A car came towards them sideways on its incorrect side of the road and collided.
The jury's verdict was accidental death.
