CRH chief executive Liam O'Mahony has been named among Europe's top chief executives in a poll of professional investors.
Mr O'Mahony is named as the best chief executive in the European building and construction sector and is the only Irishman listed in the poll conducted by prestigious investment industry magazine Institutional Investor.
The magazine surveyed over 700 research analysts and portfolio managers at more than 250 money management firms to rank the top CEOs in a number of sectors.
Thirteen of the 33 European companies whose CEOs received the highest scores are British, five are French, four are German, three are Swiss, and two are Dutch.
Other high profile chief executives named as best in their class were Terry Leahy of Tesco and BA chief executive Rod Eddington, who will retire in September to be replaced by former Aer Lingus chief executive Willie Walsh.
