Appeal for witnesses to Ronanstown murder renewed

An appeal for witnesses to the murder of Dean Johnston (21) in Ronanstown in Dublin has been renewed by gardaí.

Passengers aboard the No 25 Nitelink Bus that left Westmoreland Street at midnight last Friday night/Saturday morning, August 23rd/24th, are asked to contact gardaí.

They are appealing in particular to passengers who continued their journey from Liffey Valley to the end of the bus route.

The bus passed the scene of the shooting at Harelawn Green off the Neilstown Road at about 12.20am.

Gardaí are investigating after three men were seen running from a car they believe may have been used in the incident.

Gardaí are interested in the movements of the car, which was found on fire at Collinstown Crescent.

Gardaí wish to establish the whereabouts of the black Vauxhall Vectra prior to it being abandoned. The registration is 99 DL 7997 and the car had tinted windows.

Mr Johnston, from the Greenfort area, was known to gardaí. He was found after the incident with several gunshot wounds to the head and body.
