Appeal over running blade stolen from car in Co Monaghan

Paralympic athlete will be unable to compete in Berlin event if item is not returned

Gardaí are appealing for information about the theft of a carbon fibre running blade in Co Monaghan.

The blade was stolen from a car in Clones between Friday night and Saturday morning and belonged to a Paralympic athlete who is due to take part in an athletics competition in Berlin, Germany in less than two weeks.

The athlete will be unable to compete in the event if the blade is not recovered.

“The blade is a custom fit for the injured party and is of no use to any other person,” gardaí said. “The blade is for a left lower limb”
