A viable bomb found in the Tolka Valley Park area of Finglas, in Dublin was disabled by the Army Bomb Disposal Team on Saturday afternoon.

A number of houses in the area were evacuated after the device was found.

In a statement the Defence Forces said its team arrived shortly before noon and the device was made safe without the need for a controlled explosion by 12.30pm.

After further examination the device was declared viable.
