A Dublin man wanted in the Netherlands in connection with the discovery of a dismembered body in an Amsterdam canal had his bail reinstated for a second time yesterday.
Dutch authorities are seeking the surrender of Kenneth Brunell (28) from Palmerstown, who was arrested by gardaí on foot of extradition warrants issued in 2011.
Mr Brunell is wanted to face trial in connection with the death of Keith Ennis (29) from Walkinstown, whose dismembered body was found in an Amsterdam canal in 2009. Mr Ennis was on the run from gardaí at the time.
His body parts were dumped in a suitcase in a canal on the northern outskirts of Amsterdam after he was stabbed to death.
Sgt Sean Fallon told the High Court yesterday that an application had been made by Mr Brunell to vary his bail in order to facilitate attendance at a training course in Cork in June this year.
The court heard that Mr Brunell did not attend the training programme and that following a dispute with his father, he had gone missing for five days.
Mr Justice John Edwards granted bail of €3,000 on Mr Brunell’s own bond of €100.
