A man stabbed another man repeatedly in the head in a schoolyard in front of young children will be tried in the Circuit Court after a judge refused jurisdiction in Tallaght Court.
Anvar Ghambari allegedly assaulted Majiid Suharbi before arming himself with a sharpened bicycle stabiliser and stabbed Mr Suharbi a number of times in the head. The case was before Judge Patricia McNamara for her to consider jurisdiction.
Garda Stephen Murray said that the DPP had directed summary disposal. He said it will be alleged that at 9am on March 1 last there was a dispute between Mr Ghambari and Mr Suharbi in a schoolyard where Mr Ghambari kicked and punched him.
He said it will be alleged that Mr Ghambari went off and got a part of a bicycle, a sharpened stabiliser which he wrapped in a scarf to use as a handle. He said that Mr Ghambari allegedly stabbed Mr Suharbi several times in the head with the weapon.
Garda Murray said it will be alleged that Ghambari drove away and dumped the blood-soaked scarf and the stabiliser in a skip in Tallaght village.
Garda Murray said the victim received four lacerations in the head which were treated in Tallaght Hospital with staples and glue.
Mr Ghambari, (39, Cushlawn Way, Tallaght,) is charged with assaulting Mr Suharbi causing him harm and with producing a metal bar during the assault at a school in Tallaght.
Judge McNamara said the allegations were too serious to be kept in the District Court. She refused jurisdiction and remanded Mr Ghambari on continuing bail for six weeks for service of his book of evidence.
