A one-armed golfer who wants to become a professional had his drugs possession case struck out in Tallaght Court when he paid €300 to charity.
Cian Arthurs had been caught with €20 worth of cannabis in a DVD case.
Garda Sarah Burke told the court that on June 16th last, she observed a number of males sitting in a car in Pineview Grove in Tallaght.
She searched the car under the Misuse of Drugs Act and found a DVD case containing €20 worth of cannabis herb.
Arthurs had admitted the cannabis was his. She said he had been cooperative and had no previous convictions.
Arthurs, (22), Bellview Cottage, Rathbeale Road, Swords, had admitted to simple possession of cannabis herb at Pineview Grove, Tallaght, on June 16th, 2014.
Defence lawyer Gabby Deane told Judge Bridget Reilly her client had brought €300 to court. Judge Reilly struck out the case.
Arthurs lost the the use of his right arm in a lawnmower accident when he was two years of age. An accomplished sportsman, he has rowed for the Irish one-armed rowing team, coaches his local GAA team and wants to become a professional golfer.
