A “green fingered” cannabis dealer who cultivated nearly €3,000 worth of the drug has been sentenced to 200 hours community service.
In Tallaght District Court today, Eddie Sadlier’s lawyer Kevin Tunney attributed his client’s success in growing three cannabis plants last year to the “good summer”.
Judge John Lindsay quipped: “He has green-fingers”.
Sergeant Carmel Henry told the court that on October 10th last, gardaí obtained a warrant to search an address at Tymon North Green in Tallaght. She said officers found €2,586 worth of cannabis which Sadlier had hidden in drawers.
Sadlier, (32), Tymon Crescent, Tallaght, admitted to simple possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis for sale or supply at an address at Tymon North Green on October 10th, 2013.
Sgt Henry said Sadlier had one previous conviction. He had been fined €100 for simple possession of drugs in 2003.
Mr Tunney said Sadlier’s younger brother had been involved in a road traffic incident when his client was 16. Mr Tunney said this had affected Sadlier and he had started using cannabis for period before stopping for 15 years.
Mr Tunney said Sadlier had cultivated three plants which grew well due to the “good summer”.
Judge Halpin put the case back to a date in September for a community service report of 200 hours with three months jail in default.
