A High Court judge has urged a Moore Street restaurateur and her landlord, who it is claimed turfed her out in a row over rent, to come to an arrangement to resolve the dispute.
The comments were made by Mr Justice Paul Gilligan in proceedings brought by Stella Esemuede against Parnell Street Project Ltd, the landlord of a basement premises in a mall at the corner of Moore Street and Parnell Street.
Ms Esemuede claims she was forced out of the unit she has operated since 2009, after she objected to the more than doubling of her rent overnight by her new landlord, a claim the landlord denies.
She wants to be allowed to return. Last week the court granted Ms Esemuede a temporary injunction restraining the landlord from allowing anyone other than her to occupy unit thr- ee of the Moore Street Mall.
At the High Court yesterday, Ms Esemuede sought to have the injunction kept in place pending the full hearing. The judge, in adjourning the matter, said they should try to come to an arrangement. He also said he was concerned about the manner in which Ms Esemuede was put out of the premises.
If there was no arrangement the judge said he would give a ruling today.
