The Chief Justice Susan Denham has assumed the office of president of the Network of the Presidents of Supreme Courts of the Member States of the European Union. The chief justice is pictured here with Dr Geert Corstens, recently retired as president of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands and as president of the Network of the Presidents. Dr Corstens paid a visit to the Four Courts in Dublin to brief the chief justice as she takes on her new role.
The Network of the Presidents is a forum through which European institutions can request the opinions of supreme courts.
The presidents gather for colloquia and seminars to discuss matters of common interest. One such meeting will be held in Dublin during the term of the chief justice.
