A 39-year-old mother-of-five has been sent forward for trial at the non-jury Special Criminal Court for the murder of Gareth Hutch, who was shot dead near his Dublin home in May last year.

Gareth Hutch (35), the nephew of Gerry "the Monk" Hutch, was shot dead as he was getting into his car outside the Avondale House complex on North Cumberland Street in Dublin on the morning of May 24th, 2016.

Regina Keogh, from King's Inns Street, Dublin 1, was charged in June at Dublin District Court with the murder.

DPP application

At a brief hearing at the Special Criminal Court on Monday, for which Ms Keogh was excused, State solicitor Ciara Vibien said that the DPP had an application for Ms Keogh to be tried before the court.

In certain cases, the DPP can certify that, in his or her opinion, the ordinary courts are inadequate to secure the effective administration of justice.

Judge Isobel Kennedy, presiding, sitting with Judge Gerard Griffin and Judge Gerard Haughton, made the order.

In February, Thomas Fox (30), who is also accused of the murder of Gareth Hutch, was sent forward for trial at the Special Criminal Court.
