Dublin Fire Brigade had a very busy Halloween night and dealt with over 600 calls and several large fires, including one near Dublin Airport.

The fire at a Go-Cart track on the Old Airport Road, Swords sent a smoke plume near the flight path of the airport last night with several pumps in attendance including a water tanker and foam unit.

“Steel containers glowing red hot from the intense heat, difficult conditions for crews,” Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted last night . There were tyres alight at the scene and crews had to deal with high winds. However by early this morning the fire service said just one crew was at the Swords scene damping down.

Dublin Fire Brigade also dealt with a large waste fire at Ticknock in the Dublin Mountains which was attended by three pumps. By early this morning the fire was extinguished and the emergency services had left the scene.

There was huge demand for its ambulances overnight, it said.”While it was a busy night for fire crews it was also an extremely arduous night for our DFB & NAS ambulance crews when the fires died down,” the service tweeted.
