Four people have been arrested following the seizure of cannabis worth an estimated €600,000 in Cork.
Gardaí said a search of an industrial unit at Ballycurreen Industrial Estate in the Frankfield area of the city yielded some 18kg of the drug and a further 250 cannabis plants.
Three men and a woman, all aged between 35 and 45 years, were arrested following the discovery of the haul. They are being detained at Togher and the Bridewell Garda stations under section 2 of the Criminal Justice(Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
The seizure was part of 'Operation Nitrogen', established by An Garda Síochána to combat the cultivation, sale and distribution of controlled substances nationally.
Separately, a further €120,000 of cannabis was seized after a search of a house in the Fairways area of Carlow town.
Gardaí found cannabis plants as well as equipment used in the cultivation of the drug when they searched the property.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Carlow Garda station.
