Four men released without charge after Temple Bar death

The four men arrested in connection with the fatal assault of a man in Temple Bar on Thursday night have been released without charge.

The man in his 20s died in hospital on Friday night after being assaulted on Cows Lane at about 8.45pm on Thursday.

He had sustained a serious head injury and was taken to St James’s Hospital.

Four men, all in their mid-20s, were arrested at the scene and were being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act before being released without charge.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and a post-mortem is due to be carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy at Dublin City Morgue on Saturday.

Gardaí are seeking images and video of the incident, as it is believed a number of people in the area at the time recorded the assault on their phones.

They have appealed to any witnesses to contact them at Pearse Street Garda Station on 01 6669000.
