A fourth teenager (17), arrested in connection with fire that destroyed a Drogheda paper factory, has been released without charge.

Gardaí are treating the blaze at the Dawn Paper and Tissue Manufacturing premises at the Donore Road Industrial Estate in Co Louth on Saturday as arson.

Emergency services responded to the fire at about 9.30pm and saw a number of people running from the scene.

Three teenagers, aged 13, 14 and 17, were arrested on Sunday and held at Dundalk Garda Station.

All four, who were male, have been released without charge.

The McEnteggart family from Duleek in Co Meath, who run the factory, said in a statement there had been difficult times in the past and “we will overcome this unfortunate incident”.

The business employs 22 people and manufactures domestic tissue and supplies the industrial cleaning paper industry.

It has been based in the industrial estate for more than 20 years.
