Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Co Louth on Tuesday, May 3rd.

Three men entered the shop, which contains a post office, in Clogherhead at 3.40pm with a firearm, a sledgehammer and a metal bar.

The men, who all wore high-visibility jackets, threatened staff before fleeing the scene with a large amount of cash.

Gardaí said the trio escaped in a blue-coloured Audi A3 car, with a partial registration number 00RN.

The car was later found burnt out in a field on Coast Road, Callystown.

Gardaí believe the men left this area in a silver-coloured Skoda, which was driven by a red-haired woman.
