Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the bodies of a man and woman in a house in Kenmare, Co Kerry.

The couple - who were aged in their late 70s or early 80s - were pronounced dead at the scene after being found in the property at Dromnevane on the outskirts of the town on Sunday morning.

Their bodies were later removed to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee, where they were due to undergo postmortems.

The scene where they were found was being preserved on Sunday night pending the outcome of the examinations, which will assist gardaí in determining the course of their enquiries.
