Three men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of ketamine with a value of about €1.3 million in Dublin and Kildare.

Two kilos of the drug, worth about €140,000, were recovered after gardaí stopped and searched two cars in Chapelizod village at about 5pm on Thursday.

The men, aged 18, 32 and 36, were arrested and detained in Clondalkin Garda station.

In a follow up search at a self storage facility in Straffan, Co Kildare, a further 17kg of the drug was discovered along with other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

A Garda spokesman said the total value of ketamine seized in this operation is estimated at €1.3 million and represents the largest seizure of this synthetic controlled drug in the State to date, and one of the largest this year in Europe.
