Heroin with an estimated street value of €100,000 and cannabis worth about €4,000 were seized and a man arrested following a search of a house in Cork city this afternoon.

Gardaí from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by the Garda Dog Unit, searched a house on Model Farm Road at about 4.30pm, as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

The cannabis, in herb and resin form, and the heroin, which have yet to be analysed, were recovered along with drug paraphernalia and mobile phones.

A male in his late 20s was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Mayfield Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
