The Army Bomb Disposal Team was called out on Friday afternoon to dispose of a live modern hand grenade that was thrown at the window of a house in Dundalk, Co Louth. It bounced off the window without breaking the glass.

The grenade was then picked up and carried to a piece of waste ground before gardaí were contacted.

The incident took place at an address in O’Hanlon Park, Dundalk, at about 4.30pm.
