The 18-year-old was one of three young men arrested in connection with a series of stabbing incidents which occurred on Saturday evening.

The others are still being held at Pearse Street Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The men were arrested in the city centre on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning following the examination of CCTV footage by gardaí.

In one of the incidents, a man in his 20s suffered stab injuries to his side and face when a group of youths approached him on Fleet Street at about 7.30pm. He remains in St James’ Hospital and his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Separately, a man in his 30s was left in a serious condition when he was stabbed in the face and abdomen by two men on Anglesea Street.

He was approached by the men outside a nightclub on Cope Street and was attacked on Anglesea Street while trying to get away from the assailants.
