Gardaí in Tramore, Co Waterford have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing to death of Kilkenny man at a house last night.
The 25-year-old man who died at Seafield, Tramore was named by gardai today as as Michael O’Dwyer (25) from Kilkenny.
The victim was found outside a house in Seafield at around 11.40 last night. He was treated at the scene.
A senior Garda source said he was in “a pretty bad way” when he was taken by ambulance to Waterford Regional Hospital. He was pronounced dead in hospital shortly after 1.30am.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation at around midnight and is being questioned at Tramore Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
A postmortem is taking place today at Waterford Regional Hospital. However, it is understood he suffered stab wounds.
Gardai have appealed for witnesses and anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious or unusual activity in the Seafield Holiday Home Complex between 10pm and midnight yesterday.
They have asked anyone with information to contact Tramore Garda station on 051-39162 where an incident room has been set up. Gardai have appointed a family liason officer.
