A 55-year-old man has been charged in connection with the seizure yesterday of hundreds of thousands in cash and a small amount of drugs in Dublin.

The man appeared before a sitting of Dublin district court earlier today and has been remanded to appear at Cloverhill next week.

His arrest followed a planned operation by members of the Garda National Drugs Unit yesterday, in which a number of searches were carried out in the Kinsealy area of north Dublin.

As a result of that operation, officers seized a “substantial” amount of cash and a small amount of controlled drugs, comprising ecstasy and cocaine.

The cash recovered was in both sterling and euro and amounted to almost €300,000.

The suspect was arrested during the operation and was taken to Coolock garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
