Man (63) arrested over fatal Dublin stabbing

A 63-year-old man has been arrested in north Dublin this morning in connection with a murder in the north inner city.

David Sheridan (45) was attacked and stabbed outside a takeaway close to his home in the North Strand area of the city between 10.15pm and 10.45pm on Sunday.

He became involved in a verbal row with another customer outside the fast food outlet near the Five Lamps.

He was stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen, chest and back.

Mr Sheridan was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, but he died yesterday morning.

The man, who was arrested in connection with the stabbing, is being held at Mountjoy Garda station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act.
