A man and a woman were injured in the early hours of Saturday morning when shots were fired through the window of a house in Dublin.

The incident happened at around 1.40am at Cherry Orchard Court, Ballyfermot. The man and woman, both in their 30s, received minor injuries and were brought to St James's Hospital. They were subsequently discharged.

Gardai in Ballyfermot are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 01 - 6667200, the Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda station.

Sinn Féin TD Aengus O’Snodaigh who visited the scene of the attack, said “the new government needs to prioritise tackling gun crime in the capital”.
