Gardaí have arrested a 32-year old-man for questioning following the discovery of a cannabis growhouse with €50,000 worth of plants near Newmarket in north Cork.

Gardaí discovered the illegal haul when they searched the rented property on the Charleville Road shortly after 9pm last night.

Gardaí found between fifty to sixty cannabis plants of varying levels of maturity in what they say was a sophisticated grow house operation.

The house was being technically examined today by Garda Forensic experts. A Polish national is being detained at Mallow Garda station.
