Man arrested after carjacking in Dublin city centre

A man has been arrested by gardaí after the carjacking and assault on a pregnant woman in Dublin city centre today.

The woman in her 30s was a passenger in the car which was stolen on Hill Street near Mountjoy Square in the north of the city at about 3pm.

However the car passed a Garda patrol which pursued it briefly and stopped it at Sean McDermott Street.

A man in his 20s who got out of the car was arrested by gardaí at the scene. He is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Store St. Garda Station.

The pregnant woman was taken to hospital where she is being treated for injuries received during the incident.
