Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man for questioning following the discovery of €85,000 in cash during a search for drugs at a flat in the city centre last night.

Detectives from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad made the discovery when they searched a flat in Tuckey Street off the Grand Parade at around 9.30pm on Tuesday.

Gardaí recovered a small quantity of drugs and seized €85,000 in cash, which they suspect is the proceeds of drug dealing. They arrested a 37-year-old Hungarian national.

The man was arrested under drugs trafficking legislation which allows gardaí hold suspects for up to seven days and he was brought to the Bridewell Garda Station for questioning.
