A man has been arrested by gardaí in connection with an assault in Dublin last night which left another man in a serious condition in hospital.

A man in his 30s was arrested in Inchicore and is being detained at Kilmainham Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The victim of the assault, who is in his mid-40s, was found on Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore, Dublin 8 at about 9.25pm.

He was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital, where his condition is said to be serious.

Gardaí are keen to speak to a taxi driver who picked up a man on Tryconnell Road near the Goldenbridge Industrial Estate at about 9.20pm last night. The Skoda Octavia car drove the man in the direction of the Grand Canal.
