Man arrested over knife attack on Dublin solicitor

A man has been arrested in north Dublin in relation to the stabbing of a solicitor more than two years ago.

Violet Quigley (44)sustained serious injuries during the incident at her house in Donaghmede Park on April 8th, 2011.

A Garda spokesman said a man in his 30s was arrested in the city centre today after further information was received by the team investigating the incident.

He is being detained at Coolock Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Ms Quigley, a member the ESB’s legal section, was alone in her home when she was attacked just after 11.30pm.

Neighbours said they heard a series of distressed screams coming from an upstairs window of the victim’s home. A number of them went to tend to her while they awaited the emergency services and said that when they went to enter the house, the front door was ajar.
