Man charged after seizure of cocaine and ecstasy tablets

A 29 year old man has been charged in connection with the discovery of ecstasy tablets on Aston Quay in Dublin on Friday.

The man has been released from garda custody and is due to appear before the courts at a later date.

A second man, aged in his 20s, arrested in connection with the investigation remained in Garda custody at Store Street Garda Station on Saturday evening, detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The two men were arrested as part of an operation investigating the sale and supply of ecstasy and cocaine in Dublin city centre area by Store Street gardaí.

After a follow up search at an apartment on D’Oiler Street, ecstasy tablets, with an estimated street value of €418,000 and cocaine, with an estimated street value of €24,000 was seized.

A quantity of cash was also seized, said gardaí.
