He was treated at the scene before being removed to Tallaght Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Foul play is not suspected in his death, and it is believed that he took his own life.

Mr Sarzynski had been charged with murdering his wife Aleksandra Sarzynska at an apartment in Navan last year.

Mr Sarzynski had returned to Cloverhill prison on Tuesday after receiving treatment due to injuries he sustained when he had jumped from a second floor window at Navan Courthouse last week.

He was in the court for civil proceedings against him, which were unrelated to the death of his wife.

As well as a Garda inquiry, the Inspector of Prisons and the Prison Service will carry out separate investigations.
