Man dies after his car collides with tractor in Co Wicklow

Road remains closed as Garda forensic collision investigators examine scene

A 20-year-old male car driver has died following a road crash with a tractor in Wicklow this morning.

Gardaí are investigating the collision which happened at Kilpipe, near Aughrim on the R747 road about 9.40am.

Emergency services were called to the accident between the two vehicles three miles outside Aughrim.

The male car driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to a St Columcille’s Hospital hospital in Loughlinstown.

The male driver of the tractor, in his 40s, was taken to Naas General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí have closed the road and diversions are in place to allow the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the scene.

The road will stay closed until 5pm today.

They are appealing to witness to the crash to contact Wicklow Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111.
