A man has been charged with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm following two stabbing incidents in Cookstown, Co Tyrone early yesterday morning.

The 23-year-old man is due in court in Enniskillen tomorrow.

The PSNI  arrested eight men aged between 17 and 30 yesterday  in connection with the stabbing incidents.

The PSNI said the first incident occurred in the William Street area at about 2.30am yesterdays morning when a man in his 20s was stabbed in the head.

The second took place at around 3.30am in the Milburn Street and Moneymore Road area where a second man, also  in his 20s, suffered multiple stab wounds to his body.

Both men were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. One of the men has since been discharged.
